The part of my makeup I like to take plenty of time for, is without a doubt applying foundation, concealing blemishes and dark circles and hoping my 10 minutes of hard work stays put all day with some help of a setting spray. I briefly told you about my makeup routine before, but today I’d like to give the two star products in my foundation routine their moment in the spotlights.

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat is the foundation I’ve been using almost exclusively since August. At first I didn’t get along with it; the product wouldn’t set properly and started to look patchy on my chin in no time. Luckily, as the temperatures dropped after a hot July, it would last on my skin all day with a thin layer of powder and a setting spray on top. Le Teint Touche Eclat is a light to medium coverage foundation with a dewy finish. I like to apply one layer and cover up any blemishes with concealer, but you could easily build up the foundation if you wanted to. The main reason why I adore this product is because it instantly makes my skin look glowy and healthier. Didn’t get enough sleep? Pow. Le Teint Touche Eclat makes sure my skin doesn’t look dull. This has made it as my number one foundation for autumn and winter.

My current favourite finishing powder to use on top of the YSL foundation is the Ambient Lighting Powder by Hourglass in the shade ‘Diffused Light’. I wouldn’t say this is thé best powder I’ve ever had, but I do really like the subtle effect it adds to my makeup. Diffused Light is a white pressed powder with yellow undertones, which would reduce redness. When I visited the Hourglass counter I wasn’t sure if I should buy this or a pink-toned powder, but when I tried both – Diffused on one half of my face, a different one on the other – it was clear that Diffused Light would be a better match for my skin tone. The powder is lightweight, isn’t visible on the skin and sets foundation well. It can add a bit of a powdery feeling if I’ve applied a lot of concealer on blemishes so I make sure to use a light hand. The Ambient Lighting Powder adds a soft focus to my makeup. Combined with the base I’ve applied before, blemishes and unevenness on the skin are less noticeable while my skin looks more luminous.

These are my top products for when I want my skin to look nice and glowy. Depending on the look I’m going for, I will also contour and/or add blush and a highlighter.

When I sat down to write this blog post, I promised myself I wasn’t going to use that silly phrase and say I’m ‘all about that base‘, but I can no longer deny it: I really am all about the base.
